Sub-Division Gun

The Chiappa Charging Rhino Gen II was my first attempt at weaponry using sub-division modeling. This weapon took me about two weeks to complete. I learned a lot about the successful use of sub-division modeling and the importance of it when creating high-poly assets.

Softwares:
Adobe Substance Painter, Maya
Moodboarding
I started this process by first making a mood board of a few different types of guns I was interested in making. I decided on the Chiappa Charging Rhino Gen II because it looked the most interesting to me and I was drawn to it's more modern look.

Forming the Weapon
Creating the weapon took me a few attempts as I tried to avoid having as many triangles and n-gons as possible. I duplicated my mesh each time I made an iteration in case I had to back track at all from any mistakes. I tried to redo the model a few times, as seen by me pulling older versions of the mesh out to try and continue with. I eventually settled on fixing the mistakes in my original workflow to complete the weapon.

I worked switching back and forth between the regular mesh and smooth mesh preview, before eventually converting the mesh and optimizing it. I then proceeded to work on the UV maps so that I could texture the weapon.

Texturing
Once I finished the weapon in Maya, I brought it into Adobe Substance Painter to be textured
